Time Until Next Intake:

This Spring Opportunity to Collaborate Abounds: Hart Massey and Michael Ayoub

At Toronto Film School, it has long been our dream to integrate all programs—now that dream has come to fruition and our students have the opportunity to work across various platforms, giving you a greater overall learning experience.

Opportunities to collaborate with your fellow students abound and we encourage all Toronto Film School students to take advantage of those opportunities while you are here.

On the heals of a successful collaboration between Toronto Film School Video Game Diploma, Acting for Film, Television and the Theatre Diploma and Writing for Film and Television Diploma students (details here), this term Michael Ayoub and Julia Paton will continue to oversee the audition of our Acting Diploma students to perform voiceover acting for video games produced at the Toronto Film School Steeles Campus.

The opportunity to collaborate doesn’t stop there—this term, Writing for Film and Television Diploma students will pitch our Term 5 (Preproduction) Acting for Film, Television and the Theatre students for potential collaborations. We will also be selecting students from the Preproduction class to collaborate with Graphic Design and Interactive Media students to create dynamic packages for the pitch process.

This term, we have eight acting sections full of diverse talent and committed actors. The creativity is bursting in the studios and hallways and we want to encourage you to get out there and network with your peers. The collaborative efforts amongst our actors, film production students, writers and video game designers have shown tremendous results. Continue to open yourself up to your fellow students. This is your community!

We are thrilled with the level of talent and commitment that we are seeing within our student body. Our plays and short films continue to show the versatility and astonishing strength of our actors and graduates.

Our actors have gone on to direct, produce, write and star in several films that have premiered at Toronto Film School’s Festival of Films. Our graduates have also been featured at TIFF and the Sundance Film Festival as well as on shows like Degrassi, Covert Affairs, Rookie Blue as well as  various television commercials and other independent films and plays.

We could not be more proud.

If you have not auditioned for the TFS General Auditions, we urge you to contact Lindsay Sutherland Boal, Toronto Film School Acting program alumnae, and the new TFS Inter-program Coordinator. Lindsay has created the TFS General Audition platform so that every acting student has an opportunity to be seen by directors in all programs. She only accepts submissions via email at tfsgeneralauditions@gmail.com.

Mark Ingram will be directing his first play with our Term 5 students, having been a staple in our department as the main Voice instructor. Mark will be directing Said and Meant: Ten Short Plays About Language and Misunderstanding by Randy Wyatt. The shows will run on June 19 and 20 at the beautiful Helen Gardiner Playhouse.

We’d also like to congratulate our Term 6 graduating class who will be starting production on their short films under the guidance of Tony Del Rio and James Bond. The directors will be on location for the first half of the semester.

Make sure to inquire with them as to whether they are holding auditions for acting program students. Or do anything to get involved! It’s all part of networking on campus.

Finally, our ever-popular acting showcases will be held the week of June 15 to June 20. Attendance to the Term 5 play and the Term 6 Short Film Screening are mandatory. Do not book flights or trains until showcase week is over. Stay tuned for specific times.

Have an amazing term! We encourage you to strive towards excellence and we are honoured to continue the journey with you.
