Students in Toronto Film School’s 5W Acting for Film, TV & the Theatre class will need to be ready to take on any and all roles when their production of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ Everybody hits the stage for a three-performance run next week.

That’s because the play – a modern riff on the fifteenth-century morality play Everymanfeatures the unique casting quirk of using a lottery system to define cast roles before each performance.

Directed by Tanya Rintoul, the 75-minute performance follows ‘Everybody’ as they journey through life’s greatest mystery – the meaning of living.

“Just to prepare you a bit: Everybody is dying right now,” Rintoul cautions. “It’s okay, though, this play is a comedy. So, if the idea that you are currently dying as you read this is too much for you, hopefully laughing about it will help… As we say in the theatre and at death beds: See you on the other side.”

Everybody, which is stage managed by Zen Lenore, will take to the stage at the Papermill Theatre on March 20, 21 and 22 as follows:

  • Wednesday, March 20 at 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 21 at 9 p.m.
  • Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m.

The Papermill Theatre is located at Todmorden Mills67 Pottery Rd. Tickets are free and available at the door.
