The Hollywood Reporter Lists Toronto Film School Amongst Best 15 International Film Schools

The Hollywood Reporter

Toronto Film School recently made its third consecutive appearance on The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list of the Best International Film Schools.

The esteemed weekly magazine, which is widely recognized as one of the most trusted sources of entertainment news and reviews, included TFS in its 2025 listing alongside such venerable institutions as the U.K.’s National Film and Television School, the Tokyo University of the Arts in Japan, Argentina’s Universidad del Cine, the Beijing Film Academy in China, and FAMU Prague in the Czech Republic, among others.

The listing touts TFS’s ongoing partnership with Sony Canada as one of the many reasons for its inclusion on this year’s list.

“With local Hollywood production booming, TFS’ continuing focus on below-the-line film and TV talent this year included a $2.5 million collaboration with Sony Canada, which allows students to work with new cameras and production gear in the classroom, before reaching U.S. production hubs for major streamers in Toronto.”

The magazine also recognized the recent successes of graduates coming out of TFS’s thriving Video Game Design & Animation and Video Game Design & Development programs – singling out the launch of Sun Seal Studios and its single-player arcade game Beat Dodger by TFS grad Richard Cuartero, and fellow alums Shawn Landa and Vanessa Taylor for their Artist Achievement Award win at the Level Up Showcase for their capstone game, Infestari.
